Through Jobs for Life mentoring – Lives will be transformed through meaningful, mutually respectful relationships, the application of biblical principles, and the acquisition of practical work readiness skills.
As a mentor, you will participate with the student on the following:
• Communication Exercises
• 60 Second Elevator Speech
• Class Discussions
• Short & Long Term Goals
• Mock Interviews
• Career Assessments
• One-on-one Mentoring
• Required Tasks (to be completed outside of class)
Don’t worry – We will provide you with all the tools you need to be a successful mentor.
Jobs for Life training is also delivered through business panel discussions. We invite business community members to class to discuss work culture, interview questions and provide mock interviews.
We also provide access to available community resources that may assist JfL students in reaching their employment goals.
The key role of a Mentor is to develop a meaningful, encouraging relationship with your student. If you lead with grace, understanding and non-judgement, you are a perfect candidate for Mentorship. Remember that meaningful relationships are built more by what we do rather than what we say.
Classes are held at our Jesus Was Homeless location and are every Monday and Wednesday Nights from 6 p.m. – 8p.m. Classes run for 9 weeks total, with a new class beginning every 10 weeks.
